Havent had time to update but this was from the second day after I moved into Krinsjå!!
So anyway, I moved into the Kringsjå rebuilt furnished single room, which also comes with a private bathroom. I am totally LOVING this apartment/hostel because it was recently rebuilt and everything is automated and new!! No keys (just 1 for the post box) for this building unlike the others and you use a card key instead.
It’s so convenient if you have a lanyard becuz you just put all your cards tgt (id/school id/house key cards etc) and you are less likely to replace them.
Also the kitchen is SO CLEAN. No stains or whatsoever!! WOOHOO!!! I went to the other girls’ kitchens and I was like W T F. I cannot. Super dirty with stains and all everywhere. I’m just glad I paid a little more (200sgd??) for this!! And my neighbours are AWESOME!! They always clean up after themselves/don’t steal food etc. It’s so good to be here.
Ok enough of me raving about my awesome accommodation, here’s the view at Krinsja when you exit the apartment!
PS: Blk 12 and 14 are the newly built ones!
Couldn’t resist a picture.
With the rest of the girls!! We were off to Blindern because Vic needed to collect her mail box keys and I needed my washing machine card. The SiO Centre is right here for those staying in Krinsja.
There are soooo many dogs here. I see one almost everyday and I can help but pat them while they walk by. Missing Prince loads. :(
The SiO Centre.
Oh and Vic told me about this place near the SiO Centre where you can pick up stuff from previous students for FREE. Yup. I don’t know how clean the stuff is la… But you can get like pots/pans/tables/chairs any random household stuff here!
On the day we went unfortunately there was almost nothing left. Go early if you wna grab some stuff! I reached like a week before school started so… It was prolly all snapped up by then.
No worries though, my kitchen has almost everything and people allow us to use their stuff!! Yay.
The weather was working well with us that day. The sunlight was perfect for photos!!
And off we headed to school where we checked out BI’s “amazing” library. It was very disappointing. They said we’d get the BEST view of Oslo from the sch lib but it was nothing?!? I guess I’m just very pampered by SMU’s library. This doesn’t even surprise me at all!
Also I heard frm the NTU dudes that the view from the rooftop is much better. LOL. They snuck up there to snap some pics and I was like eh nice!! I think I’ll drop by one day when I have the time.
With my current book by Murakami. It kept me well entertained on the flight to Oslo!
Act yi ge in the lib…
And this is BI!! Really like the school’s architecture.
Grabbed a sandwich because I was too hungry to wait for lunch at IKEA that day (yes we had to buy stuff for the rooms!!)…
Can’t rmb how much I paid for this sandwich but it was alright… I think around the same as Swissbake’s pricing in SG. Next time I’ll stick to the lunchboxes..
Went for our first introductory lecture in BI too. It was damn boring la. Siannnnnn ~_~
And then off we went towards Oslo S (the city centre) to catch a free shuttle bus towards IKEA. Apparently the shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes and we navigated our way towards the pick up point.
And the rest of the girls! While we waited at the pick up point. I can’t remember where it was. But it was a short walk from the T-bane, Oslo S. You can google it I’m sure!
There’s no ventilation on the IKEA busses… But there’s WIFI!! Haha although damn slow… But still must appreciate la.
You won’t miss the bus. It’s so striking!!
And OMG. IKEA FOOD!!! Super cheap!! The hotdogs are 5 NOK each. Wtf. That’s not even a dollar in SGD!!!
I had one to myself cuz I alr had a sandwich prior to this. But the girls were so hungry they had like 3 hotdogs to themselves. LOL. HAHAA. Aiya so cheap anyway!! Just eat la!!!
The automated IKEA Soft Serve tasted like shit. But I just really wanted to try out the machine. And it’s only 10 NOK la. So it’s okay.
After eating we went on to do our shopping for household stuff. Although the hostel is furnished, it comes with only the very BASIC items.
A bed, a cupboard (for me), a shelf and blinds. That’s it.
You have to get stuff like bedsheets, pillows, blanket, table lamp (TRUST ME U NEED IT) etc etc on your own!
We spent a good 2 hours at IKEA just picking out what we needed and all… Of course comparing prices took a damn long time as well. But a word of advice..
BEFORE gg to IKEA, do get your measurements done for your beds etc!!!! If not you won’t know what you can or cannot buy!! This is v v important. And if you want to buy curtains you need to see if you can even hang it onto the ledge. Have to check the fittings!
If not you’ll prolly just waste a lot of time there trying to figure it out. And worse still, buy the wrong stuff. Damn mafan.
This was my damage done by the end of the day. About 200+ SGD spent at IKEA. But I got loads of stuff.
4. Tupperwares (FOR FOOD SO IMPORTANT)
5. Good duvet for winter (buy the one that keeps warm, usually more expensive)
6. Bedsheet (bought the cheapest one and regret it because it’s so rough T_T)
7. Duvet and pillow covers
8. 1x plate 1x bowl
9. Table lamp (because it gets damn dark at night and you prolly can’t study or do shit when winter comes…)
10. Food storing clips (DAMN IMPORTANT ALSO!! Because you will be cooking and you have to reseal stuff)
11. Huge reusable IKEA bag (for lugging ur stuff back AND doing laundry!! WORTH IT.)
12. Toilet floor mat
13. Body towel
14. Small towels x3 (for cleaning your room/kitchenware/whatever you might need it for)
15. Face towel
16. FROZEN IKEA MEATBALLS (SHIOK MAX AND SUPER EASY TO COOK)
17. A GOOD PILLOW (neck support pls)
Oh and this is the IKEA schedule for the peeps who need it. I went to the one at Lodager.
We took up so much space on the bus… Lol.
It was super shag just carrying ALL that shit back to Krinsja. I almost died and shouted I GIVE UP. But have to tahan, now living alone BO BIAN one. I suggest doing everything in one shot because then you don’t have to go back again.
It’s quite a distance and the IKEA bus is damn no ventilation. Just like all their trains and busses here in Oslo…
We were starving by the time we got back and decided to make the easiest food possible…
PASTA WITH IKEA MEATBALLS AND PORK SAUSAGES!!!!!!
Bought pre-made pasta sauce and cooked it with the meatballs and sausages. WALA!!! We were done!
And that was dinner for the night. Vicky isn’t in this pic because she went to get the pasta from her kitchen. Can you see how clean my kitchen is?!?! It’s so sparkly!!! YAY!!
And by night time… My bed was ready for me to finally sleep in!! Sans the sleeping bag! So happy with my new covers. I really like them and it made it feel so much more like home. The pillow IS DAMN IMPORTANT.
I slept like a baby that night and woke up with no neckaches! WOOHOO!!
IKEA is definitely a MUST go!! Everything’s reasonably priced and my duvet actually cost 1/3 of the total bill because I insisted on getting a really good one. 80 SGD I think??
Hope this helps for those moving into Krinsja!
